Code Ninjas Vancouver South — Video Game Design

My son, who is 9 and loves video games, recently attended the Code Ninjas program in Vancouver South focused on video game design. The instructor, Mike, was very engaging and kept the children interested while they worked on creating their own simple games. My son built a 2D platformer, and he was so proud to share it with us. The small group size allowed for more one-on-one attention, which I appreciated. However, I did find the pickup process a bit chaotic with long lines. It took longer than expected, which was frustrating after a long day. Overall, I think it’s a great place for kids who are creative and want to learn more about game development, just be prepared for the pickup wait. We’ll likely sign up again for the next session.

He really enjoyed creating his own game, which he called "Space Quest," and he learned a lot about coding fundamentals and game mechanics. The instructor, Sam, was very engaging and made sure every child felt included. I appreciated the regular updates on what they were learning, which helped me understand his progress. However, one small annoyance was the long lines at pickup time. It seemed like there weren't enough staff directing the flow, which caused some confusion. Nonetheless, my son made a couple of friends during the program, and he seems more confident in expressing his creative ideas now. I would recommend this program, especially for kids who have a passion for gaming and design.
