My son recently attended the Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts, and overall, it was a solid experience. He’s in the age 8-10 group and participated in a weekly theatre class focusing on acting techniques. The instructor, Sarah, really connected with the kids and made the lessons enjoyable. They worked on a short play, and my son created a character that he was genuinely proud of. The small group size allowed for more attention to each child, which was great for him since he can be a bit shy. However, the pickup process could be improved, as we experienced some long lines at the end of class. It would be nice to have a more streamlined way to get the kids without the chaos. That said, the creative projects they worked on were inspiring, and my son made a new friend, which was a bonus. I would recommend it with the caveat about the pickup situation, but overall, he’s eager to continue next session.

My daughter, who is quite shy, recently participated in the Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts' theatre program for kids aged 8-10. While she was nervous at first, the supportive and engaged staff, particularly our instructor Emily, made her feel comfortable. Throughout the weekly sessions, she worked on a creative project where they created their own short play, which she absolutely loved. It was great to see her confidence grow as she collaborated with a small group of peers. The only downside was the long lines during drop-off, which could be frustrating at times. However, I’d definitely recommend this program for any child looking to explore their creative side. Just be prepared for some waiting at the beginning of the sessions.
