Steamoji Kerrisdale — Robotics

My son recently attended the Steamoji Kerrisdale Robotics program in Vancouver, and overall, it was a worthwhile experience. The hands-on activities allowed him to build his own robot, which he was very proud of. The instructor, Mark, was patient and encouraged the kids to experiment with different designs. I appreciated the small group size, as it allowed for more individualized attention. However, the drop-off process was a bit chaotic, with a lot of parents and kids all arriving at the same time. It made the start of the class a bit stressful. Despite that, my son really enjoyed the creativity involved in the projects and even made a friend in the class. For parents looking for a STEM-focused program, I would recommend it, but be prepared for a hectic arrival!

He is 9 and loves building things, so this was right up his alley. Each week, he got to work on different projects, including a robot that he programmed to navigate a maze. His instructor, Jamie, was engaging and clearly passionate about robotics, which made a big difference in keeping the kids interested. However, there were a couple of minor annoyances. The pickup lines could get pretty long, especially on the last day when parents showed up for a showcase of the kids' projects. It would be nice if they could streamline that a bit. Despite the waiting, my son made a couple of friends in the small group, and he feels more confident in his problem-solving skills. I would recommend this program for other parents with creative kids who enjoy hands-on learning.
