Sasamat Outdoor Centre — Nature & Outdoors

We enrolled our 6-year-old in the Nature & Outdoors program at Sasamat Outdoor Centre in Vancouver, and overall, it was a good experience. The staff, especially Jamie, were very engaged with the kids and made the activities fun. My child particularly enjoyed the hiking sessions where they learned to identify different plants and animals. It was heartwarming to see them make a new friend during the scavenger hunt. However, I was a bit annoyed by the long lines during drop-off and pick-up; it could be more organized. The program's outdoor focus and the chance for my child to explore nature were definitely highlights. I'd recommend it to other parents, but just be prepared for a little chaos at the start and end of the day.

I took my son, who is six, to the Nature & Outdoors program at Sasamat Outdoor Centre in Vancouver last week. The hike was the highlight of his day! He built a small shelter using branches and leaves, which he was really proud of. The instructors, particularly a friendly guy named Mark, were very engaging and encouraged the kids to explore their surroundings. The small group size was a big plus; my son was able to interact with the other kids and made a new friend. However, the check-in process was a bit chaotic, with long lines that made us start late. That said, once the activities began, my son was fully engaged and had a fantastic time. I would definitely recommend this program for active kids who love being outdoors, but just be prepared for a bit of a wait at pickup.
