Sarah McLachlan School of Music — Music

We recently enrolled my 6-year-old at the Sarah McLachlan School of Music in Vancouver, and overall, it has been a positive experience. The program runs after school, which is convenient for us, although the pickup process can get a bit chaotic with long lines, especially on the first day. However, the instructors, like Miss Jenna, are incredibly engaging and attentive. My child has been learning about rhythm and even got to try out a few different instruments, which sparked a newfound interest in music. The inclusive environment really stands out, as they encourage all kids to express themselves creatively. My child, who is naturally shy, has also made a friend during the sessions. While I wish there was a bit more communication regarding the schedule updates, I would still recommend this program for its supportive atmosphere and the joy it brings to young learners.

She was initially shy, but her instructor, Jamie, was incredibly warm and engaged, which helped her feel comfortable. Over the course of four weeks, she learned to play simple songs on the ukulele and even tried her hand at songwriting. I appreciated the inclusive environment they created, and it certainly nurtured her creativity. However, I did notice that the space can get quite crowded, especially during pickup times, which was a bit chaotic at times. It would help if they had a more organized system for parents. Overall, I would recommend this program for parents looking to introduce their kids to music in a supportive setting, but just be prepared for a little rush during pickup.
