Timberline Ranch — Horseback Riding

My daughter, 9, participated in the Timberline Ranch horseback riding program in Vancouver last week. The atmosphere was welcoming, and I appreciated the small group size, which allowed for plenty of one-on-one time with the instructor, Sarah. She was knowledgeable and made a genuine effort to connect with each child, teaching them about horse care and riding techniques. My daughter built confidence while riding and even made a friend by the end of the session, which was a nice bonus. However, we did have to wait in line for a while at pickup, and it felt a bit chaotic with so many families arriving at once. Overall, though, it was a solid experience, and I think it's a great way for kids to engage with nature and learn a new skill. Just be prepared for possible wait times.

The instructors, including a friendly guy named Jake, genuinely connect with the kids and ensure that everyone feels comfortable around the horses. The small group size means that my daughter gets plenty of attention and hands-on time, which has really helped build her confidence. She loves learning how to groom and saddle the horses before riding them, and she's already made a couple of friends in the program. However, there are some long lines during pickup time, which can be a bit frustrating. On one occasion, we waited nearly 20 minutes just to get her from the stable area. But once we were on our way home, she couldn’t stop talking about her riding lessons, which made it worth it. If your child is active and enjoys the outdoors, I think they'd really benefit from this program.
