I enrolled my 9-year-old son in the hockey program at the False Creek Community Centre in Vancouver, and overall, it has been a solid experience. The instructor, Mike, was very engaging, ensuring that all the kids, regardless of skill level, felt included and had fun. My son loved working on his skating and even built confidence while learning new tactics. However, the sessions can get a bit crowded, especially on weekends, which made for some hectic pickup times at the end of class. I believe the smaller group sizes helped mitigate this somewhat, but it would be nice if they could find a way to manage the flow better. Despite this, I appreciate the inclusive environment and my son has made a few friends, which has been a huge plus. I would recommend this program, just be prepared for some busyness at pickup!

We enrolled my 9-year-old son in the hockey program at False Creek Community Centre in Vancouver this past season. Overall, we had a solid experience, and he truly enjoyed the sessions. The instructor, Mike, was personable and clearly passionate about teaching the kids the fundamentals of hockey while making it fun. My son especially loved the drills where they practiced stickhandling and shooting, and he made a couple of friends from the class, which was a nice bonus. Pick-up was generally well organized, although there were a couple of times it got a bit crowded, especially right after school let out. I appreciated the inclusive environment, as it felt welcoming to kids of all skill levels. While the cost of around $200 felt a bit steep, I believe it was worth it for the instruction and social aspect. I would recommend this program for active kids, but just be prepared for a bit of chaos during pickup times.
