My 12-year-old daughter attended the Blue Hat Bakery-Café & Bistro cooking program at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver this past month. The instructors were genuinely engaged with the kids, particularly a friendly guy named Jason who guided them through making a delicious stuffed zucchini and a fantastic chocolate mousse. The small group size really allowed for personal attention, which I appreciated. She also loved the snacks they prepared – a nice touch! The only downside was the long lines during drop-off; we often had to wait a bit to get her settled in. Overall, it was a solid experience that sparked her interest in cooking. I would recommend it, especially for kids looking to explore their culinary skills.

We recently enrolled my 12-year-old in the Blue Hat Bakery-Café program at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver. Overall, it was a solid experience. The instructor, Sarah, was incredibly engaging and clearly passionate about cooking, which inspired my son to try new things. He particularly enjoyed making a fresh pasta dish, and he brought home some delicious cookies to share with the family. The focus on locally sourced ingredients was a nice touch. However, we did experience some long lines during drop-off, which made the first day a bit chaotic. I wish they had a more organized system for parents, especially since it can be overwhelming for kids to navigate. Despite that, my son made a friend and had a great time exploring creativity in the kitchen. I would recommend this program with the caveat that you plan for a little extra time during pickup.
