International Arts Academy — Visual Arts

My 9-year-old daughter recently attended the Visual Arts program at the International Arts Academy in Vancouver, and she absolutely thrived. Each week, she explored different artistic mediums, from painting to clay, under the guidance of an engaged instructor named Sarah. I loved seeing her create a beautiful clay sculpture, which she proudly displayed at home. The small group size allowed for more personalized attention, which really helped her develop her skills. One downside was the extra costs for materials not initially included in the tuition, which added up. However, the creative environment was worth it. My daughter also made a new friend, which is a bonus. Overall, I’d recommend this program for kids who are creative and looking to expand their artistic skills, just be prepared for potential additional expenses.

The instructors, particularly Mia, were very engaged with the kids and encouraged them to explore different artistic techniques. My child really enjoyed working on a mixed-media project where they created a collage using various materials. It was wonderful to see their creativity flourish in such a supportive environment. However, I did notice the classes tended to get a bit crowded at times, which made it hard for some kids to get the individual attention they might need. Also, I had some concerns about the pickup process that felt a bit chaotic on the first day. Still, my child came home excited every week, and they've made a few friends in the small group setting. I would recommend this program if you're looking for a place that nurtures artistic skills and creativity, just be prepared for a few hiccups during the pickup.
