Arts Umbrella — Visual Arts

I recently took my son, who is 9, to the Arts Umbrella Visual Arts program in Vancouver. He loves drawing and painting, so I was excited for him to explore different mediums. The instructor, Lisa, was very engaging and fostered a supportive environment. My son created a beautiful mixed-media piece that he was proud of, which made me happy to see him so involved. However, I did notice that the pickup process was a bit chaotic, with long lines forming outside during busy times. Despite that annoyance, I appreciate the small group size, which gives the kids more attention. Overall, it’s a great program for creative kids, and I’d recommend it with that caveat about the pickup situation. My son made a couple of friends too, which is a bonus!

My daughter attended the Arts Umbrella Visual Arts program in Vancouver for the past eight weeks, and overall, we had a positive experience. The instructor, Sam, was incredibly engaging and encouraged the kids to explore different techniques. My daughter particularly enjoyed working with acrylic paints to create a landscape, and she loved seeing her peers express themselves as well. The small group size meant that each child received attention, which was great. However, I found the drop-off process a bit chaotic at times, and we experienced some long lines during pickup, which was frustrating. Despite these minor annoyances, I would recommend this program for kids who are creative and enjoy hands-on activities. It has definitely nurtured my daughter's artistic skills.
