My 9-year-old attended the Little Robot Friends Video Game Design program in Toronto last month, and overall, it was a solid experience. The instructor, Lucas, was genuinely enthusiastic and kept the kids engaged while they learned to code their robots. My son built a simple game where the robot had to navigate through obstacles, which was a big hit at home. The small group size meant that he got plenty of individual attention, which I appreciated. However, I did notice a bit of excessive screen time during sessions. While I understand that coding requires some screen usage, I felt there could be more hands-on, unplugged activities to balance it out. Pick-up was smooth, with clear instructions provided, which was a relief. I would recommend this program for parents looking to encourage their children’s creativity and problem-solving skills, but keep an eye on the screen time aspect.
