High Park Nature Centre — Nature & Outdoors

We recently enrolled my 6-year-old in the Nature & Outdoors program at High Park Nature Centre in Toronto. The weekly sessions have been a great way for him to explore the outdoors while developing a respect for nature. The staff, especially our instructor Sam, were very engaging and helped the kids build a birdhouse together, which my son was particularly proud of. I appreciated that the group size was small enough for each child to get personal attention, and he even made a new friend. However, I did notice a lack of shade during some of the outdoor activities, which made it a bit uncomfortable on warmer days. Despite this, the overall experience was positive, and I would recommend it to other parents, especially those with active kids looking for a fun outdoor adventure.

They spent their time exploring different plants and animals, and my son loved building a small birdhouse using natural materials. It was great to see him so engaged. However, I did find the pickup process a bit chaotic; we ended up waiting in a long line, which was frustrating after a long day. But once we got through that, my child was all smiles and excited to share what he learned. The small group size allowed for personalized attention, which I appreciated. If you’re looking to get your child outside and involved, this is a good option, just be prepared for the end-of-day rush.
