Green Acres Day Camp — Nature & Outdoors

I recently enrolled my 9-year-old at Green Acres Day Camp in Toronto, and overall, it was a solid experience. The camp has a great setup on a spacious 110-acre facility, which allowed my child to explore nature and engage in various outdoor activities. They particularly enjoyed the nature scavenger hunt and even built a small birdhouse during the creative project session led by instructor Jake, who was really attentive and engaged with the kids. However, there were a few annoyances. The pickup process was a bit chaotic at times, with long lines forming as parents waited to collect their kids. Also, I noticed that there were very few shaded areas, making it a tough wait on hotter days. Despite these minor issues, my child made a new friend and came home excited about their day, so I’d recommend it with the caveat to prepare for the heat and expect a bit of a wait during pickup.

My son, who is 6 and very active, attended the Green Acres Day Camp's Nature & Outdoors program in Toronto this past summer. He came home every day excited about what he had done, especially when he built a birdhouse using natural materials. The instructors, like Sarah, were attentive and clearly passionate about engaging the kids with nature, which made a big difference. I appreciated the small group sizes, as it meant he got more personalized attention. One downside was the long lines during pickup; it could get a bit chaotic at times, especially with other parents not following the line. Despite that, the outdoor activities kept him engaged, and he even made a couple of new friends. Overall, I would recommend this camp for parents looking for a solid outdoor experience for their kids, but be prepared for the pickup situation.
