We recently enrolled our 6-year-old in the Northern Karate Schools' martial arts program in Toronto, and we had a good experience overall. The instructor, Mark, was really engaging and took the time to connect with each child in the class, which helped my son feel comfortable right away. He loved learning basic karate moves and even got to practice with a partner. The small group size meant that he got lots of attention, which I appreciated. However, the pickup after class was a bit chaotic. There were long lines, and it felt a little overwhelming for the kids. Nonetheless, the environment was inclusive and supportive, and my son came home excited about his new skills. I’d recommend it, especially for active kids looking to build confidence and learn self-defense.

We enrolled our 6-year-old in the Northern Karate Schools program in Toronto and overall, it’s been a positive experience. The instructor, Jane, is genuinely passionate about teaching the kids and keeps them engaged throughout the class. My child has learned basic karate moves and has even built some confidence in the process. The small group size really helps each child get more attention, which I appreciate. However, the waiting area can get crowded, especially on weekends, and we encountered some long lines at pickup that could be better managed. Despite that, my child comes home excited each week and talks about the friends they've made in class. I would recommend this program, especially if your child is active and looking for a new challenge.
