Real Programming 4 Kids — Coding

We enrolled our 12-year-old son in the Real Programming 4 Kids coding class in Toronto, and overall, it was a solid experience. The small group size really stood out—just four kids with one instructor, which allowed for personalized attention. His instructor, Mike, was engaging and encouraging, helping the kids build their own simple video games. It was gratifying to see our son so focused and excited about learning how to code. However, we did experience some long lines during pickup, which could be frustrating after a busy day. Aside from that, I appreciated the clear communication from the staff and the supportive environment they fostered. If your child enjoys tech and is eager to learn, I’d recommend giving this program a shot, though be prepared for some minor logistical hiccups.

He’s in the age 11-13 group, and I appreciate that there are only four students per instructor. His instructor, Emily, is really engaging and takes the time to explain concepts clearly, which helps my son stay focused and actually enjoy coding. This week, they worked on creating a simple game, and my son came home excited to show off his project. That said, I did notice that he spent quite a bit of time in front of a screen, which I wish could be balanced with some hands-on activities. The pickup process is pretty organized, but can get a bit crowded at times, so it’s wise to arrive a little early. All in all, I would recommend this program, especially for kids who are creatively inclined and looking to explore coding further.
