Joe Rockhead's Indoor Rock Climbing — Climbing

I took my 9-year-old to Joe Rockhead's Indoor Rock Climbing in Toronto for their after-school program. The facility is quite spacious, and my child was immediately engaged by the variety of climbing walls available, especially the bouldering area. The instructor, Matt, was great at explaining the techniques in an encouraging way, making sure everyone felt safe while trying new things. My child built confidence tackling the beginner routes, and even made a friend during the session, which was a nice bonus. However, the after-school pickup was a bit chaotic, as many parents arrived at the same time, leading to long lines. Overall, we had a solid experience, and I appreciate that it kept my child active and focused on something fun. I’d recommend it with the caveat to arrive early for pickup.

The instructors, like Sarah, were really engaged and made sure everyone felt comfortable on the walls. My daughter was thrilled to learn proper climbing techniques and even managed to climb her first bouldering wall! The small group size allowed for personalized attention, which I appreciated. However, I found the drop-off a bit chaotic—there were lots of kids arriving at once, and it took some time to figure out where to go. Thankfully, once inside, things settled down, and she had a great time. The $45 fee seemed reasonable with all the rental equipment included. I’d recommend this program for active kids who enjoy a bit of a challenge and are ready to tackle climbing in a supportive environment.
