Code Ninjas Sammamish — Video Game Design

I enrolled my 9-year-old at Code Ninjas Sammamish for their Video Game Design program and overall, it was a solid experience. The instructor, Mia, was genuinely enthusiastic about game development and took the time to engage each child. My son was thrilled to design his own platformer game and really enjoyed the collaborative atmosphere with other kids. One minor annoyance was the amount of screen time; I felt they could balance it with more hands-on activities, especially considering the age group. The weekly schedule worked well for us, and I appreciated the small group size, which allowed for more individual attention. Plus, my son made a good friend during the program, which was a nice bonus. I would recommend this program to other parents, but just keep in mind to discuss screen time with your child beforehand.

I appreciated the small group size—he got more attention than he would in a larger class. One downside was the amount of screen time; I wish there were a few more hands-on activities that didn't involve computers. The pickup process could also be a bit chaotic at times, with parents crowding the entrance. However, my son made a new friend during the week, which was a huge plus. If your child thrives on tech and creativity, I would recommend this program with a couple of caveats.
