Mariposa Kids — Science

I enrolled my 9-year-old son in the Mariposa Kids Science program in San Francisco, and overall, it was a solid experience. The class activities were hands-on, and my son particularly enjoyed building a simple circuit board. The instructor, Jamie, was very engaging and made sure the kids understood the concepts before moving to the next activity. The small group size really helped my son feel comfortable and encouraged him to speak up. However, we did experience long lines during pickup, which was a bit frustrating after a long day. If you can manage that, I think it’s a worthwhile program that nurtures curiosity in children. My son came home excited to tell me everything he learned, which is a win in my book!

They did a fun project where the children built volcanoes and conducted a small experiment that allowed them to see reactions in action. My son, who is quite outgoing, loved making new friends during the activities. However, I was a bit annoyed by the long lines for pickup; it often felt chaotic and disorganized, which made it tough at times to get him. Despite that, I believe the creative projects and the small group sizes made it worth the effort. I would recommend this program, but just be prepared for some waiting time during pick-up.
