The Hangout — Nature & Outdoors

We attended The Hangout — Nature & Outdoors program in Portland with my 6-year-old son, and overall, it was a positive experience. Each week, he came home excited about the different activities they did, from building birdhouses to learning about local wildlife. The instructors, particularly a friendly guy named Jake, were knowledgeable and clearly passionate about nature, which kept the kids engaged. The small group size made it easy for everyone to participate and ask questions. However, I did notice long lines at check-in, which could be frustrating on busier days. Despite this, my son made a great friend there and always looked forward to the next session. I recommend it for families who want their kids to connect with nature in a structured yet fun environment.

My 6-year-old attended The Hangout — Nature & Outdoors in Portland last week and had a great time exploring the park. The instructor, Mia, was genuinely enthusiastic about nature and kept the kids engaged throughout the session. They built birdhouses from recycled materials and learned about different local bird species. It was wonderful to see my child so active and excited about learning. However, pickup was a bit chaotic; there were long lines forming, which made it harder to manage the kids. While they did a nice job organizing small groups, it would have been nice if they had better communication about the pickup process. Overall, it was a solid experience that I would recommend, but I might suggest arriving a bit earlier to avoid the crowds.
