New York City Children’s Theater — Theatre

I enrolled my 6-year-old in the New York City Children’s Theater program, and overall, it was a positive experience. The instructor, Mia, really engaged the kids with innovative theater exercises that encouraged them to express themselves creatively. My child loved building a mini puppet show during the sessions, and it was heartwarming to see them collaborate with peers. However, the check-in process can be a bit chaotic; we faced long lines on the first day which made me a bit anxious about how it would affect my child's experience. The program is well-structured, and the small group size allowed for more individualized attention, which my child greatly benefited from. We’ve seen a boost in their confidence since they started. I would recommend this program, but I suggest arriving a bit earlier to avoid the rush at pickup.

The instructor, Jamie, was very engaging and really connected with the kids, fostering a creative environment. They built a small play based on their favorite stories, which allowed them to use their imaginations. One small annoyance was the long lines during pickup; we often waited more than 15 minutes, which was frustrating after a long day. However, the enthusiasm my son exhibited each week made it worthwhile. Overall, I recommend the program for kids who enjoy theater and want to explore their creativity, just be prepared for the pickup situation.
