Steamoji Calgary West — Video Game Design

My son attended the Steamoji Calgary West Video Game Design program last week, and overall, it was a solid experience. The instructors, particularly a wonderful guy named Jake, really engaged the kids with hands-on activities. My son built a simple platformer game, which he proudly showed off to his friends afterwards. They kept the group sizes small, which I appreciate, allowing for more interaction. One downside was the long lines during pickup; it felt a bit chaotic at times, which added some stress to our routine. However, the creative projects he got to work on made it worth it. I would definitely recommend this program to other parents, especially if your child thrives in a creative environment.

I appreciated that the group sizes were small, allowing for more individualized attention. However, I did notice a significant amount of screen time, which might not suit every parent’s preference. Pickup was well-organized, but I did experience a bit of confusion during our first day. Despite this, I would recommend Steamoji for kids interested in video game design, just be prepared for the heavy focus on screen-based activities.
