My son, who is 9 and quite creative, attended the Video Game Design program at Steamoji Calgary Southeast. The small group size really allowed him to engage with the instructor, Mike, who was very approachable and attentive. They focused on creating a simple game, and he loved learning how to code and design characters. The facility is nice, and I appreciated the engaging nature of the projects. However, I noticed that the sessions had quite a bit of screen time, which I’m not entirely comfortable with. The pickup process was smooth, which is always a plus. Overall, I think it’s a great program for kids who enjoy technology and have a flair for creativity, but I'd recommend keeping an eye on the screen time if your child is sensitive to that.

My son recently attended the Steamoji Calgary Southeast Video Game Design program, and overall, it was a solid experience. The instructor, Jamie, was very engaging and kept the kids focused on their projects. My son loved designing his own game character and coding its movements. The small group size allowed for more personalized attention, which was a plus. However, I did notice that there was quite a bit of screen time, and I wish some activities incorporated more hands-on elements away from the computer. The pickup process was fairly straightforward, with staff communicating well about who was getting picked up. If your child is creative and enjoys technology, this program is definitely worth considering, but it might be a good idea to balance it with non-screen activities at home.
