Werklund Centre — Theatre

We recently attended a theatre program at the Werklund Centre in Calgary with my 6-year-old daughter, and it was quite the experience. The staff, particularly our instructor, Sarah, was incredibly engaging. She helped the kids create their own puppet show, which my daughter absolutely loved. Watching her come up with characters and a storyline was delightful. The downside was the long line during pickup. It took us about 15 minutes to get her, and it felt a bit chaotic with all the parents in one area. Despite that, the creative projects they offered kept her excited and inspired. I appreciated the way Sarah encouraged the kids to express themselves freely. If your child enjoys theatre and creativity, this program is a solid choice, just be prepared for a bit of a wait at the end.

My child was thrilled to be part of a small group where they created their own short play—complete with costumes and props. It was wonderful to see my child’s creativity shine as they took on the role of a character they invented. However, I did notice that the check-in process was quite chaotic, with long lines that made us a bit late for the start. Despite this annoyance, I’d recommend the program for any child who loves being creative and performing. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait at the beginning!
