Haultain Park — Tennis

We enrolled my 9-year-old son in the Haultain Park Tennis program in Calgary, and overall, it was a solid experience. The classes are weekly, and the instructor, Jamie, was very engaging with the kids, ensuring they had fun while learning the fundamentals of tennis. My son really enjoyed building confidence with each session, and he even made a new friend in the small group. The outdoor setting is beautiful, with the historic Haultain School in the background adding a nice touch. However, I did notice some long lines during pickup, which can be a bit chaotic, especially if you're in a rush. Also, the parking situation wasn’t great, so plan extra time for that. Despite these minor annoyances, I would recommend this program for active kids looking to learn tennis in a friendly environment.

My son really enjoyed working on his serves and even made a new friend during the group activities, which was nice to see. The small group size meant that each child got a fair amount of attention, which I appreciated. However, the area did get quite crowded at times, making it tricky to find a good spot to watch without being in the way. I also thought the schedule could be better communicated, as we weren’t sure if there would be any extra sessions. Nonetheless, for about $80, it feels like a worthwhile investment, especially since my son is an active kid who thrives in outdoor environments. I’d recommend it with the note to arrive early for a good spot!
