Westside Recreation Centre — Swimming

We attended a weekly swimming program at the Westside Recreation Centre in Calgary with my 6-year-old son. He had a blast exploring the wave pool and took full advantage of the waterslide, which was a big highlight for him. I appreciate the engaged staff, especially our instructor, Emily, who was great at keeping the kids motivated while ensuring safety. However, I did notice that the facility can get quite crowded on weekends, especially during the family swim hours. It made navigating the area a bit hectic at times, so I recommend arriving early for a smoother experience. Overall, my son loved the program and even made a couple of friends in the process. I’d definitely recommend it for active kids, but perhaps plan around peak times to avoid the crowds.
