Mad Science of Southern Alberta — Science

I enrolled my 6-year-old in the Mad Science after-school program in Calgary, and overall, it was a solid experience. The instructor, Lisa, was very engaging and kept the kids' attention throughout the session. My child particularly loved building a small volcano model, which erupted using baking soda and vinegar. It was hands-on and fun, which kept him active and interested. One downside was the long lines during pick-up; it got a bit chaotic as many parents arrived at the same time. But once we got through, I appreciated the small group size, which meant the kids got more attention. If your child enjoys being creative and active, I think they would enjoy this program. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait at the end of the day.

They got to create their own slime and even launched mini rockets, which my son loved. The small group size allowed for plenty of hands-on activities, and he made a new friend, which was an added bonus. However, I did notice that during pickup, it became somewhat crowded, making it a bit chaotic at times. I had to wait longer than I would have liked to get him. Despite this, the communication about what they were learning was clear, and I appreciated the updates they provided. I would recommend it for kids who enjoy being creative and hands-on, but parents should be prepared for a busy pickup situation. All in all, we're looking forward to the next session.
