OBotz Calgary NE 2 — Robotics

I enrolled my 9-year-old son in the OBotz Calgary NE 2 robotics program, and overall, it has been a great experience. The instructors, particularly a lady named Sarah, are genuinely enthusiastic about teaching. My son built a mini robot during his first session, and he was so proud to show it off when we picked him up. The small group setting really fosters engagement, and he made a new friend right away. One minor annoyance was the parking situation; it was a bit tricky on the days when the classes let out. However, I appreciated that they provided takeaway kits which my son has been using at home to reinforce what he learned. If you're looking for a hands-on way to introduce robotics, this program is solid, but just keep in mind to arrive a bit earlier for pickup.

Each week, he comes home excited about the projects he’s been working on. Last week, he built a small robot that could navigate a simple maze. The instructor, Jenna, is very engaging and does a great job of keeping the kids motivated. However, I did find the drop-off a bit chaotic at times, with lots of parents arriving at once. That said, the small group size often means that the kids get more personalized attention. Overall, I think it’s a solid program that has sparked my child's interest in STEM, and I’d recommend it to others looking for a hands-on learning experience.
