Calgary Nature Kindergarten — Nature & Outdoors

We enrolled our 4-year-old daughter in the Calgary Nature Kindergarten's Nature & Outdoors program this fall, and overall, we’ve had a solid experience. The full-day schedule from 9 am to 3 pm allowed her to fully immerse in nature while learning alongside a small group of children. The instructor, Sarah, was particularly engaging, encouraging the kids to explore their surroundings while sparking their creativity. Our daughter built a small birdhouse using twigs and leaves, which she was thrilled to bring home. However, we did face some long lines during drop-off, which felt a bit chaotic at times, especially when trying to keep our daughter calm. Despite this minor annoyance, the outdoor focus and the nurturing environment make up for it. She’s become more confident and even made a new friend. We definitely recommend this program for anyone looking for a hands-on learning experience, just be prepared for some initial hustle during drop-off.

On one of the days, they built a small fort using sticks and leaves, which was a hit! The instructor, Sarah, was fantastic at encouraging the kids to explore while ensuring they felt safe and supported. The small group size allowed for individual attention, which was great for our shy child. They even made a friend during one of the nature scavenger hunts. While we did find the price a bit steep at $380, the experience provided was worth it. Just a heads-up for other parents: the lines during pickup can get pretty long, so plan accordingly. Overall, we would recommend it for active kids who love exploring outdoors.
