Butterfield Acres Petting Farm — Nature & Outdoors

We recently visited Butterfield Acres Petting Farm in Calgary for a full-day nature and outdoors program with my 6-year-old. The kids had a blast interacting with the animals—my son was particularly excited about the pony rides and even got to milk a goat, which was a highlight for him. The staff, including our instructor Emma, were very engaging and kept the kids entertained throughout the day. We also appreciated the picnic spots available; we enjoyed snacks from home while taking in the fresh air. However, we did encounter long lines for some of the activities, which ate into our time a bit. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I would recommend it, especially for active kids who love animals.

Overall, though, my son was active and interested throughout the day. We packed a picnic and enjoyed lunch in one of the shaded areas, which was a nice touch. I would recommend this program for families looking for a hands-on outdoor experience, just be prepared for some waiting in line.
