Red Phoenix Tae Kwon Do — Martial Arts

We enrolled our 9-year-old in the Red Phoenix Tae Kwon Do classes in Calgary, and overall, it has been a positive experience. The instructors, like Coach Alex, are clearly passionate about teaching and take the time to engage with each student. My child has learned some fundamental techniques and even built confidence while sparring with peers. Pickup can sometimes feel chaotic, especially on busy evenings, but the staff does their best to keep everything organized. While the classes can be crowded, we appreciate the diverse age groups and skill levels, which create an inclusive environment for learning. Although we wish there were fewer students in some classes, it’s clear that my child enjoys the challenge and has made new friends. I recommend it for any active kids looking to learn martial arts.

The small class sizes allow for personalized attention, which we've found really beneficial for our son, who's quite active and needs to channel that energy. One minor annoyance was the long lines during pickup; it sometimes felt a bit chaotic as parents gathered, especially on busy days. However, the staff did their best to manage it. My son has learned some essential techniques and even made a friend in his class, which has boosted his confidence. We plan to continue, but I’d suggest arriving earlier next time to avoid the pickup situation.
