Willow Grove Stables — Horseback Riding

My daughter, who is 9 and quite active, attended the weekly horseback riding sessions at Willow Grove Stables in Calgary. The excitement on her face when she rode Buttercup, the gentle mare, was priceless. The instructor, Sarah, was really engaging and took the time to ensure each child felt comfortable with their horse. Pickup was organized, but we did experience some long lines on the first day; it was a bit chaotic, which made for a stressful start. However, once we got into the routine, things improved. They also offered a nice outdoor area for the kids to relax after riding. Overall, it was a positive experience, and my daughter has developed a real fondness for riding, plus she even made a new friend in the process. I would recommend this program with the caveat to arrive early for pickup to avoid the lines.

My daughter is quite active and loves being outdoors, so she was in her element. The facility itself is lovely, but I wish there were a bit more shaded areas for parents waiting during the lessons. Despite the minor annoyance, I would recommend Willow Grove for families looking to introduce their kids to horseback riding in a supportive environment.
