West Hillhurst Community Association — Hockey

We recently enrolled our 9-year-old in the West Hillhurst Community Association Hockey program in Calgary, and overall, it has been a solid experience. The instructors, like Coach Mike, really engage with the kids, making it fun while teaching them essential skills. My son loved learning how to shoot and pass, and he even made a friend in the process, which was great to see. The hockey practices are held weekly, and while the setup is generally smooth, we did experience some long lines at the check-in, which made us arrive a bit late for the first session. The program costs around $200, which feels reasonable given the level of instruction and the community vibe. All in all, if you're looking for an active and social environment for your child, I'd definitely recommend it, but just prepare for a bit of waiting during drop-off.

However, once we got past that, the organization seemed to improve. We appreciate the focus on teamwork and physical activity, making me feel good about the investment. Overall, I’d recommend this program if you're in the area, just be prepared for a slightly hectic start.
