Roger Wolfe — Hockey

We recently enrolled my son in the Roger Wolfe Hockey program in Calgary, which runs half-day sessions at Southland Leisure Centre. Overall, it was a decent experience. The instructors, particularly Ryan, were genuinely engaged with the kids, focusing on skill development while promoting teamwork. My son, who’s quite active, loved working on his skating and stickhandling skills, and he made a few new friends along the way. However, it did feel a bit crowded during the drills, which limited individual attention at times. The communication regarding schedules was good, but the drop-off could be a bit chaotic with so many parents arriving at once. While the program isn't the cheapest out there, I feel it was a fair value for the experience and skill development. I would recommend it, especially for active kids looking to improve their game.

He particularly enjoyed the small group size, which allowed for more personalized attention from the instructors. Coach Jake was fantastic; he really engaged the kids while teaching them essential hockey skills and teamwork. My son built confidence on the ice and even made a new friend during the drills. One small annoyance was the drop-off situation—it felt a bit chaotic with so many families arriving at once. A more organized process would improve the experience. However, once inside, the staff kept the kids focused and motivated. For the price, I feel it was a worthwhile investment in my son’s development in both hockey and character, and I would recommend it with those caveats in mind.
