TOPP KIDS Out of School Clubs / Foundation — Coding

I enrolled my 6-year-old in the TOPP KIDS coding program in Calgary, and overall, it was a pretty solid experience. The instructor, Mia, was very engaging and really connected with the kids, turning what could be a dull subject into something fun. My child loved building a simple game and even made a new friend in the small group setting, which was great for his confidence. The only annoyance was the long lines during pickup, which made it a bit chaotic at times. However, I felt the positive atmosphere made up for it. If you're looking for a creative outlet for your kids that also introduces them to coding basics, I would recommend this program. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait during pickup.

The instructor, Alex, was friendly and encouraged creativity while teaching coding fundamentals. My child enjoyed creating a simple game and was proud to show it off at pickup. However, I did notice that there seemed to be a bit too much screen time for younger kids, which I wasn't quite expecting. A bit more balance with hands-on activities would be ideal. Still, I appreciate how the program fosters problem-solving skills and allows for exploration. I would recommend it, especially for kids who may be shy but have an interest in technology.
