Steamoji Calgary North — Coding

My 9-year-old attended the Steamoji Calgary North coding program this fall, and overall, it has been a rewarding experience. The instructor, Emma, was quite engaging and really knew how to connect with the kids. They worked on a fun project where they built a simple video game using coding skills. My child was thrilled to earn OJI coins as they progressed; it felt like a fun way to track their learning. I appreciate that the group size was small, allowing for more personalized attention. That said, drop-off could get a bit chaotic, particularly on the first day. There were a lot of parents and kids milling about, which made it a little overwhelming. However, once inside, my child was focused and really enjoyed the creative challenges. If your child has a flair for creativity, this program is a solid choice, but be prepared for a bit of initial chaos during drop-off.

The instructor, Jake, was very engaging and really connected with the kids. My son enjoyed building a simple robot that he could program to move and make sounds, which sparked his interest in STEM even more. The small group size meant that each child got individual attention, which was great. However, I found the drop-off process a bit chaotic, with parents crowding the entrance which made it tricky to get our son settled in at the start of the sessions. Despite that, I would recommend this program for children who are focused and eager to learn about coding. It's a fun way for them to develop new skills while making friends.
