Roots 2 STEM — Coding

My son recently started the Roots 2 STEM coding program in Calgary, and overall, we had a positive experience. The small class size really caught my attention, allowing the instructor, Mark, to give each child more focused attention. My son was thrilled to learn how to create a simple video game during the first session, and it sparked his interest in coding. However, I found the drop-off process a bit chaotic; it was unclear where to go when we arrived, which made it stressful for both me and my son, especially since he is a bit shy. Despite that, the engaging staff and the creative projects made it worth the investment. I appreciate that he is gaining skills in a supportive environment, and I plan to keep him enrolled for the upcoming sessions.

They’ve worked on some fun projects, like building a simple game using Scratch, which he absolutely loved. The hands-on approach keeps him interested, and I appreciate the focus on creativity in their projects. One minor annoyance was the long lines during pickup, which can be a bit chaotic at times. However, once we're through, it's great to see him excited about what he learned. He’s made new friends and seems more confident in his coding skills. If you have a creative child interested in technology, this program is worth considering. Just be prepared for some waiting at the end of the day.
