My 6-year-old attended the Mad Science of Southern Alberta Coding program in Calgary this past spring. I appreciated that the staff, particularly our instructor Jenna, was very engaging and really knew how to connect with the kids. Each week, my child explored different coding concepts while building fun projects like a simple game and a little robot that moved based on their code. The hands-on approach kept them excited and curious about technology. However, drop-off was a bit chaotic, with too many parents in a small space and little organization. It felt overwhelming for my shy child at first. After a couple of weeks, they adjusted and even made a friend, which was great to see. Overall, I would recommend this program for kids looking to spark an interest in coding, but be prepared for a hectic drop-off experience.
