I took my 6-year-old to the weekly coding class at KidStrong on MacLeod Trail in Calgary, and overall, it was a solid experience. The instructor, Jamie, was very engaging and had a knack for keeping the kids focused. My son really enjoyed building a simple game using block coding, and he was proud to show me what he created at pickup. The small group size allowed for individual attention, which I appreciated. However, I did notice that there was quite a bit of screen time for such a young age group. While I understand that coding involves computers, I would have liked to see more hands-on activities that balance that out. Despite this, my son loved the class and even made a new friend. I think it's a great program for kids who are creative and curious about technology, but parents should be mindful of the screen time involved.
