MRU Camps — Basketball

My son attended the MRU Camps Basketball program in Calgary this summer, and overall, it was a solid experience. The staff, particularly Coach Alex, were very engaged and encouraging, helping the kids improve their skills while keeping it fun. My son, an active 9-year-old, loved the drills and the scrimmage games. It was great to see him come home excited about basketball and share that he made a friend, which was a bonus. One small annoyance was the long lines during pickup; waiting for about 15 minutes in the heat wasn't ideal. But the before-and-after care was convenient and well-organized, which somewhat balanced that out. If you're looking for a camp that teaches skills and teamwork in a supportive environment, MRU Camps is worth considering, just be prepared for a bit of a wait during pickup.

He particularly enjoyed the outdoor scrimmage games, which allowed him to apply what he learned. The staff, including Coach Emily, were attentive and seemed to genuinely care about the kids' development. He even made a new friend, which was a nice bonus. One downside was the drop-off process, which felt a bit chaotic at times, with parents struggling to find parking nearby. The full-day schedule from 9 AM to 4 PM is great for working parents, and the complimentary care before and after is a big plus. Although the camp is on the pricier side, I think my son gained valuable skills and confidence. I would recommend it, just be prepared for a busy start to the day.
