Backyard Explorers — Nature & Outdoors

We enrolled my 6-year-old in the Backyard Explorers program in Brooklyn, and overall, it’s been a positive experience. The sessions are well-structured, and my child has built a birdhouse and planted seeds, which really got him engaged with nature. The staff, like our instructor Jenna, were enthusiastic and attentive, ensuring that each child felt included. I appreciate the focus on outdoor time; it’s refreshing to see kids exploring rather than stuck indoors. However, the check-in and pick-up process can be a bit chaotic with long lines, especially on weekends. If you plan to go, arrive early to avoid the rush. Despite that minor annoyance, I would recommend this program, especially for active kids who enjoy hands-on activities.

Despite that, my son came home every week excited about what he learned and even made a couple of new friends. I think it’s a great way for kids to connect with nature, just be prepared for the lines during busy drop-off times.
