Voxel Academy — Coding

My son, who is 9 and quite creative, recently attended the Voxel Academy coding program in Brooklyn. He really enjoyed building his own video game over the course of the week. The instructor, Mia, was particularly engaging and made coding principles accessible for the kids. We had a bit of a hiccup during drop-off, as the lines were rather long, but once inside, the small class size allowed for more personalized attention. My son even made a friend by the end of the week, which was a nice bonus. I appreciated how interactive the learning was, though I did notice a bit of too much screen time at times. Overall, I would recommend Voxel Academy with some caution regarding the drop-off situation.

My child particularly enjoyed creating a simple video game, which sparked a lot of excitement and creativity. The class size was small, which allowed for individual attention—this was great for my child, who tends to be more creative and needs a bit of guidance. However, I did notice that some of the activities involved quite a bit of screen time, which might not suit every kid's learning style. The pickup process was smooth too, with no long lines. I would recommend Voxel Academy, but I also suggest keeping an eye on the balance between screen time and hands-on activities for younger kids.
