I recently enrolled my 9-year-old son in the Penguin Coding School in Boston, and overall, it was a positive experience. The instructor, Mike, was very engaging and made the coding concepts accessible while keeping the kids attentive. My son really enjoyed creating his own simple video game during the sessions, which helped him apply what he was learning. The small group size meant that Mike could give individual attention to the kids, which was a plus. However, I did notice that some activities involved a lot of screen time, and I worry that might not be the best balance for kids his age. The pickup process was smooth, which I appreciated, but the class ran a little late on occasion, making it tricky to juggle after-school activities. Despite this, I believe it's a solid program for kids who are focused and eager to learn coding. I'd recommend it, but parents should be prepared for the screen time aspect.
