Playhood — Robotics

We recently enrolled my 9-year-old in the Playhood Robotics program in Amsterdam, and overall, it has been a solid experience. The instructors, especially a lady named Maya, were genuinely engaged and helped the kids explore different aspects of robotics. My son was thrilled to build a simple robot that he programmed to navigate a small obstacle course. The small group size really allowed for personalized attention, which was a huge plus. However, the drop-off process on the first day was a bit chaotic, with long lines that made it challenging to get the kids settled. Once we got through that, the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. My son has made a few friends already and is excited to go back each week. If you're looking for a creative outlet for your child interested in STEM, I would recommend this program with the caveat to arrive early on drop-off days.

My child enjoyed building a small robotic car, which they were able to customize with various sensors and colors. The instructor, named Lisa, was very engaging and ensured that each child had a chance to take the lead on their project. One small annoyance was the pickup process; it can get a bit chaotic as parents gather at the end of the session, making it hard to find my child amid the crowd. Despite that, my child made a few friends and even mentioned how exciting it was to design something from scratch. I would recommend this program, especially for kids interested in STEM, but keep an eye on the end-of-class traffic if you decide to join.
